It all started when I was a little boy playing with my toy horses and rubber ducks in a bath tub. My mother thought that I was an odd boy since I was not interested in toys such as cars toys and other electronic gadgets that most boys find thrilling.
I have always had a special love for animals. While my elder sister was in the living room watching cartoon on TV, I would be outside playing with my animal toys. My mother noticed my love for animals and decided to buy a pet dog for me.
My mother named the pet dog ‘Charchil’. I can recall that I was still very young and I found it hard to coherently pronounce the word Charchill so I most often ended up calling the dog “chuchu” which was easier for me.
We got used to the name and within no time, the name of the dog changed to Chuchu. Chuchu was my best friend, he always accompanied me wherever I went to. I loved taking care of him and my mother taught me how to feed him when I was still young.
When my mother brought chuchu home, my life changed for the better for me and the dog. I took care of him like a younger sibling. My elder sister showed no interest in pets and toys. As she grew older, she switched from cartoons and developed a love for geographical documentaries.
She suddenly had a great passion for nature and she desired to one day work as a geologist. My sister is a go getter and she makes sure that she gets whatever she sets her eyes upon. She has worked very hard to become a geologist.
As we were growing up with my sister, we loved visiting parks and zoos a lot. Every time we visited a zoo, I was quite enthralled. I always imagined spending my entire life attending to animals at the zoo. It never occurred to me that my love for animals at such an early age would shape me into what I am today.
When I joined high school, I became a member of a popular animals club in school. Joining this club was the best thing I ever did, it helped me to kick start my career in veterinary med.
The club afforded me opportunities to achieve a lot of things. It helped me a great deal in preparing to join college. I had the opportunity to visit huge animal farms which reared different types of animals. This exposed me to a lot of other types of animals.
I also had the opportunity of interacting with professionals in veterinary field who helped cement my dreams of taking veterinary medicine as a career.
When it was time to join college, I had no doubt that veterinary med was the best career for me. I was lucky to land a scholarship in one of the prominent colleges in the country that specializes in veterinary medicine from which I graduated with a first class honors.
